The Full Story
The Olive Orchard
The full story... Scott and I were amazed when we were given the opportunity to purchase an olive orchard in Sorano, Tuscany. Scott had been searching for a wine cantina in Sorano for some time and had not found one he liked until his good friend Augusto discovered one in particular for sale. After viewing the wine cantina, the owners asked us if we would be interested in buying their 3.62 acres of olive trees. My eyes lit up as it was always just a dream for us to own an olive orchard! So we all went to look at it, and it was love at first sight. Scott and I saw the potential and knew it would be a lot of work, but we didn't let that stop us. With Augusto on board to mentor and guide us, we decided to do it. Since then, we have had abundant help from very giving people we respect immensely.

Mature Olive Trees
We purchased 57 mature olive trees. Some of them looked very good, but some needed a lot of TLC. For example, we pulled Ivy growing on them and cut down briar bushes growing around them. Along the back of the property, after clearing around some trees, we found a beautiful vista of the surrounding hills and the valley below. You wouldn't recognize the property from the before and after pictures. We love having lunch under the large, peaceful, and serene olive trees.

Young Olive Trees
In 2023, we planted 26 young olive trees, and in 2024, we planted 61 additional young olive trees. We also discovered 1 olive tree that was completely covered with overgrowth! We plan to plant more in 2025.

Some Varieties of Italian
Olive Trees We Have
Italian olive oils are known for their complex flavors, which can include notes of fruit, grass, and sometimes pepper. The flavor can vary depending on the region, harvest time, and olive variety.
